Shooting Tips for Divas

After my first tournament, I have some tips for Divas:

  • Do not wear earrings that you don't want to lose.  Taking the headgear off and on is too cumbersome and frequent  to watch over earrings.
  • Better yet, DO NOT wear earrings, they hurt under the headset.  But first survey the other shooters to decide if the pain is worth it.
  • If you are wearing false eyelashes, make sure your glasses are rounded and won't start tearing them off when you flutter your eyelashes.
  • Keep the nail on your trigger finger short enough to easily slide into the trigger guard.  Bring polish for quick repairs.
  • When you are running from scenario to another, pull your gun into chest position.  This is a good habit to get into.  You won't sweep anyone and get disqualified.  If you are in a real emergency situation the bad guys won't be able to take charge of your arms and, hence, your shot.
  • Don't sweat the beginning when the timer person says "go".  The timer starts automatically with your first shot not when the timer person says go.  Take it easy with the draw and setting up your first shot.  That sets you up better.
  • Go into mountain pose (yoga) before you shoot.  It will calm you and actually help you decide when to fire.
